The injury report before Dallas’ season opener Wednesday night includes a couple of last-minute additions.
Forward Maxi Kleber will not play in Phoenix on Tuesday as he is suffering from a non-COVID illness.
Davis Bertans and Frank Ntilikina are both sidelined with knee and ankle injuries, respectively. They will not make the trip to Portland.
Kleber’s absence from their second-unit power forward role would be the most impactful.
Kleber is a 3-and-D player that can help make the Mavericks offense more robust. He shot 55.8% from the floor and 46.4% from three in last season’s postseason, which was important to help upset Phoenix in the second round of the playoffs, too–the Mavericks enter this season with high expectations for his frontcourt fit and spacing off the bench.
With the injury to Ntilikina, it could be possible that Campazzo will see a lot more minutes in the starting lineup. He can take on much of the responsibilities Luka Doncic’s absence left behind.
